After decades in the showbiz world as a power couple, the Beckhams are no strangers to rubbing shoulders with people in high places.
But out of all the illustrious connections they have fostered over the years, one has consistently taken precedence: their relationship with the royals.
With Kate Middleton remaining largely out of the spotlight as she continues to undergo preventative chemotherapy for cancer,
heat has learned that Victoria has been keen to show her support and has reached out to the princess in her time of need.
One source close to the fashion designer says, “Victoria has really been concerned about Kate, and she and David have sent her lots of messages of support.
But Vic wants to do something more and would like to send Kate a pamper package
with some of her favourite bits from her own range, as well as other treats that she knows Kate will like.
“There are a lot of rules around sending gifts to royals, so Vic is keen to make sure it’s done as friends and not from her business. But she just wants to help keep her spirits up.”
As well as maintaining a friendship with the royals, Victoria, 50, and husband David, 49 – who are parents to Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and 13-year-old Harper – have both been appointed OBEs during their careers. In 2003, former England captain David received the prestigious accolade for services to football, while his wife earned hers 14 years later for services to the fashion industry.
It’s also no secret though that devout royalist David has long had his eyes on a knighthood. Last month, the Inter Miami CF president upped the royal ante when he was signed as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, a milestone he marked by sharing a photo alongside the monarch.
Meanwhile, while our source acknowledges that the Princess of Wales and Victoria aren’t outwardly pally, the future Queen’s wardrobe is not devoid of VB designs. Kate, 42, stepped out wearing a cream knit dress from the former Spice Girl’s range in January 2023, stylishly donned a pair of Vic’s sunglasses at the men’s Wimbledon final last summer, and is the reported owner of a VB white Quincy bag.
And now we’re told that Vic is keen to build a tighter-knit bond with Kate, as well as fulfil the dream of styling her.
“Although they are quite different, Victoria can relate to a lot of the pressure and scrutiny Kate is under,” says our source. “She’s on a mission to really cement their friendship, especially as David is getting closer to the royals. Once Kate has fully recovered, Vic would love to work with her, as well as help style her and see her use her products. It would be the ultimate seal of approval.”
Back when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were still in the royal fold, the Beckhams shared a close relationship with them, even attending their wedding in 2018. The former Suits actress also wore VB’s dresses on occasions, including on Christmas Day in 2018.
But after the Sussexes reportedly accused Posh and Becks of leaking stories about them to the press – which is said to have left David “bloody furious” – the foursome no longer have a friendship. And our source says that the demise of this connection has paved the way for Vic and David to pledge an unwavering allegiance to Kate and Wills.
We’re told, “Both Vic and David have shown their loyalty to the royal family and have cut ties with Meghan and Harry, as they feel they treated them badly. The royals will always have their support.”
