And perhaps it wasn’t a coincidence that after the apparent snub, Meghan seemingly stopped wearing Victoria’s designs…until now.

Peacemaking move?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have just wound up their four-day “faux royal” tour to Colombia.

During their trip, they met with local communities and Colombian vice president Francis Marquez.

On the very first day, Meghan made a statement with her outfit of choice which could’ve been entirely intentional.

The mum-of-two stepped out in a silk £597 chocolate brown shirt by none other than Victoria Beckham herself, and finished off the look with brown La Ligne trousers and caramel-coloured Aquazzura heels.

The shirt came from VB’s 2020 collection and given that Meghan rarely re-wears items, this could be a telling gesture.

And could this be a strong sign to suggest their “feud” is over?

Brand and Culture expert Nick Ede tells Fabulous: “For Meghan to wear VB when all the world is watching her on her tour of Columbia is a smart move. 

“Both are two of the most famous women on the planet with uber famous husbands and with Meghan showing support by wearing VB it will be a positive sign and good PR for Meghan and her brand.”

Softening image

Nick claims that with the imminent launch of her America Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand, and its accompanying Netflix TV show, all eyes are currently on Meghan.

The brand expert says Meghan will be looking to “soften her image” and making up with Victoria Beckham could be a good way to start.

He explains: “I think that as we see Meghan moving into becoming a lifestyle businesswoman like the new Martha Stewart she will be looking to soften her image.

“Making her lifestyle more accessible and embracing fashion and supporting other women is a really good way to do this.”

Poignant moment

Meghan chose to showcase the Victoria shirt as she and Harry participated in a summit on a ‘Responsible Digital Future’.

The event was organised to discuss ways to create strategies for safer digital environments and to combat cyberbullying.

Meghan and Harry also discussed concerns about the negative impact of social media on individuals and communities.

According to Nick, wearing the shirt to such an event could indicate Meghan wishes to dispel any negativity online about the Sussex and Beckham feud.

“Netflix’s other big winner has been the Beckham’s documentary and so Meghan and VB have both got a lot in common, including books by the author Tom Bower which have grabbed the headlines,” he says.

“Both have been scrutinised for years so they really should be friends.”

Initial friendship

After Meghan started datingHarry, Victoria reportedly made an effort to befriend her, due to her family’s long-standing friendship with Prince Harry and Prince William.

Tom added that “a member of Victoria’s staff offered Harry’s fiancé advice on the best facials and hairdressing in London.”

Meghan is also said to have asked Victoria if she could provide her with free clothes and handbags, however this was “vetoed by the Palace for being against their rules.”

Due to her wish to avoid paparazzi, Meghan allegedly stayed at the Beckham residence in Beverly Hills during a private trip, and it meant she was “secretly provided for by the Beckhams’ staff.”

When it was reported that Victoria had given Meghan make-up advice, the relationship is said to have soured.

The Spice Girl is also said to have gifted Meghan £6,000 worth of clothes, according to Tom Bower’s book, House of Beckham.

Cracks forming

The Duke of Sussex allegedly calling David to accuse him and his wife Victoria of leaking stories didn’t bode well.

The Beckhams did secure an invite to Harry and Meghan’s 2018 nuptials, however Tom claims that in a bid to “punish” the couple, they weren’t invited to the wedding dinner – despite welcoming other big names like George Clooney, who Meghan didn’t know personally.

Wedding snub
