Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint’s on-screen bonding evolved into a lasting friendship that has endured well beyond the series’ conclusion over a decade ago.
It’s commonplace to witness them expressing praise and admiration for one another.
Watson, who played the role of Hermione Granger, also lauded Grint’s acting prowess, especially his emotional performance in the final two films.

In the Harry Potter series, Rupert Grint’s Ron is often perceived as the least favored among the golden trio,
with Harry as the chosen one and Hermione as the intellectual powerhouse. However, his character undergoes a remarkable evolution throughout the story.
And his emotional performance in the final two films, The Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Part 2 captivated his co-star Emma Watson. “Rupert is that he’s a very self-contained human being,” the actress said, talking about his typically reserved demeanor off-camera.
Reflecting on her co-star’s performance in an interview with JoBlo, she further expressed astonishment at his emotive depth, saying,
It’s very rare that you see him get emotional. The minute the camera rolls, he just becomes this other thing and he has so much, and I’m like, ‘Where does that come from?’
Watson admitted being so moved by Grint’s portrayal that she found it challenging to remain in character herself, feeling compelled to immediately commend him. “I just wanted to go, ‘You’re amazing! That was amazing!’” she recalled.
She also praised his performance in The Deathly Hallows – Part 1, in the scene when Ron returns to Harry and Hermione. “Rupert’s performance is so brilliant,” she said in an interview with Collider.
The Harry Potter Cast Almost Made a Comeback for a Ninth Film in the Series
Following the 2011 film The Deathly Hallows – Part 2, there were plans reportedly in place to reunite the original cast of the franchise for a ninth installment based on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, originally a theater play.
Watson was reportedly approached to reprise her role as Hermione Granger. However, she declined the offer. Reports suggested that the actress was unwilling to work alongside J.K. Rowling following the author’s public transphobic remarks.
The Beauty and the Beast star has since distanced herself from the author, which is believed to be a significant factor in her decision not to return to the franchise.
Warner Bros. is currently developing a reboot TV series based on J.K. Rowling’s book series, with plans to extend the upcoming series over the next decade.
Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, known from Succession, have recently joined the project as showrunners, and Rowling herself is reportedly closely involved with the upcoming TV adaptation.
