While no date has been given or broadcast it is not unlikely the two women could find themselves pitted against each other for ratings.
Harry and Meghan are currently working on two new series for the streaming giant – one which will “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining,
and friendship” and a second one that will be shot at the US Open Polo Championship.
As such, Victoria joining the Netflix family, will be a blow for Meghan, whose previous offerings for the channel have received a lukewarm reception and failed to secure an Emmy nod. By contrast Victoria’s husband David’s offering for the streamer, entitled simply Beckham, received five Emmy nods something Victoria will be hoping to build on.
The Sussexes first documentary series for the streamer Harry and Meghan was confirmed as Netflix’s second-biggest documentary series to date in January 2023.
Despite this it wasn’t well recieved by critics and it failed to secure any Emmy nominations.
Their second offering Live To Lead didn’t even crack the top 100 shows on release and received an even more brutal critical drubbing.
Meghan and Harry will be hoping their next series to fare better when they are released.
Meghan and Victoria were once said to be close friends, with the pop star turned fashion designer even attending her 2018 wedding to Harry in Windsor. However, it seems they have drifted apart which will only add to any ratings rivalry.
The Beckhams were friendly with Harry when he first started seeing Meghan and they were reportedly eager to make her feel welcome in the UK.
It was even said Victoria had given Meghan access to her little black book containing her favourite hairdressers and stylists in London.
However, the first sign of tension came when reports emerged about stories being leaked to the media after claims Victoria was helping out Meghan were published which left the Sussexes upset.
According to the Mail On Sunday, Harry confronted David with his suspicions in a phone call that left the ex-Manchester United star “furious”.
