took the opportunity on her show to delve into the ongoing challenges faced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, 

particularly in relation to their strained relationship with the Royal Family. 

During the segment, royal correspondent Russell Myers shared insights into the couple’s recent appearance at the Invictus Games, which was held in Vancouver, Canada.

Russell began by painting a picture of the couple’s time at the event. 

He noted that Harry and Meghan were seen enjoying themselves at the opening ceremony, which attracted an impressive crowd of 40,000 people to the BC stadium. 

“It looks like they’re having a great time,” Russell observed, highlighting Harry’s enthusiastic participation, including a moment where he danced with some of the athletes. For Harry, who has been dealing with legal battles and ongoing family tensions, the Invictus Games are not just an event; they are a deeply meaningful cause.

“It’s clear that the Invictus Games hold immense value for Harry,” Russell said, referencing the prince’s recent struggles, which include a series of court cases and a high-profile fallout with the Royal Family. “This is his passion, his brainchild. The work he’s doing here really provides him with a sense of purpose amidst the challenges he’s been facing,” he added.

Lorraine Kelly, known for her candid opinions, was quick to offer her own take on the situation. While acknowledging the significance of the Invictus Games to Prince Harry, she did not hold back in commenting on the difficulties the couple has faced since stepping away from royal duties. “Oh, just a bit. Putting it very mildly,” Lorraine said, referring to the couple’s tumultuous journey since they left the Royal Family in 2020. “A lot of it is self-inflicted, it has to be said,” she remarked, drawing attention to the couple’s role in shaping the drama surrounding their exit from royal life.

Despite her blunt critique, Lorraine did offer praise for Harry and Meghan’s efforts with the Invictus Games. “Having said that, this is exactly the kind of work they should be doing,” she added. Lorraine went on to commend Harry’s transformation, particularly how he appears to be thriving in his new role, away from royal pressures. “He’s like a different person now. Focusing on his charity work, especially in Africa, and the positive impact they’re having – it’s fantastic,” Lorraine said, underscoring the couple’s potential to make a difference through their charitable endeavors.

One of the most poignant moments of the Invictus Games’ opening ceremony was when Harry took the stage to deliver an emotional speech. Meghan had introduced him, although she had not initially planned to speak herself. In his address, Harry paid tribute to the Indigenous First Nations people of Canada, thanking them for hosting the event. His speech highlighted not only the significance of the games but also his deep respect for the host nation’s culture and history.

As for the possibility of a reconciliation between Harry and the Royal Family, Lorraine offered a hopeful perspective. “You know what families are like,” she said. “There’s always a huge, dramatic row, and then, eventually, things calm down.” She expressed optimism, suggesting that time could heal the rift. “Time is a great healer, so hopefully, all that is tottering along,” Lorraine said, hinting that a resolution may be in the cards for the Prince and his family.

The Invictus Games, which were founded by Harry in 2014, continue to grow in significance, marking this year as the seventh iteration of the competition for wounded military veterans. In addition to emotional speeches and inspiring moments, the opening ceremony featured a star-studded lineup of musical performances, with artists like Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado, and Coldplay’s Chris Martin gracing the stage.

Over the next nine days, more than 500 athletes from around the world will compete in 11 different events, including winter sports, a first for the games. The event serves as a reminder of the powerful impact that Harry and Meghan are striving to have, even amidst the personal challenges they continue to face.
