However, despite garnering huge success at a pretty young age, the Noah star’s parents weren’t quite familiar with the world of Hollywood. 

According to the actress, they didn’t even know one of Hollywood’s biggest attractions, Tom Cruise, who remains one of the biggest movie stars of our time.

Emma Watson’s parents had no interest in Hollywood

Reflecting on her pre-fame life, Emma Watson explained her parents weren’t big fans of the entertainment industry and movies in general, as they were busy being lawyers. 

And even though she eventually found interest in the field of acting, initially she wasn’t assured of having a career in this field. 

The actress further revealed that they only had four movie tapes in their house while she was growing up. And due to their parent’s lack of interest in movies, they weren’t even familiar with Top Gun star Tom Cruise. She explained,

“You have to understand, my parents don’t really understand celebrities, or Hollywood, or whatever else.” In another interview, she said, “I don’t come from a movie-watching family. I’m the black sheep of the situation.”

However, despite her parents’ lack of interest in the field, they didn’t stop the actress from pursuing her passion, as she went on to climb the ladders of success in the realm of showbiz.

Emma Watson didn’t know who Brad Pitt was

But it wasn’t only her parents who weren’t familiar with certain industry biggies, as Emma Watson herself didn’t know one of the very best in the realm of acting. Growing up in a family that has no interest in movies, it’s reasonable to see why The Circle Star would not be knowledgeable about certain film stars, and this included Brad Pitt. However, despite not having a clue about the Seven star as a young actress, Watson faked having a crush on the actor in a desperate attempt to make friends. She explained,

“I watch interviews that I did when the first movie came out and I was so lost! I would think, ‘What do young girls talk about? What do they say?’ ‘I like going shopping and I have a crush on Brad Pitt.’ And I had no idea who Brad Pitt really was… It makes me sad because I see this girl trying so much to fit in.”

However, her family’s lack of connection in the industry didn’t hinder her rise, as over the years, Emma Watson has cemented herself as one of the most renowned celebrities over the globe.
