Katie Price has revealed that her eldest son, Harvey, will soon start using weight loss injections in an effort to enhance his overall well-being. 

The 22-year-old, who weighs 28 stone, has struggled with obesity due to his complex medical conditions, 

and after years of attempting various weight management strategies, doctors have now recommended a course of medication similar to Ozempic.

Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome—a genetic disorder linked to an insatiable appetite—faces significant health risks due to his weight. 

Concerned for his future, Katie, 46, is hopeful that this new medical intervention will provide him with a better quality of life and reduce the potential for serious complications.

A Necessary Intervention for Harvey’s Health

Speaking to The Sun, Katie Price emphasized the urgency of the situation, explaining that her son’s medical team believes the injections could be a crucial step in safeguarding his future.

“It’s really, really serious and life-changing for Harvey,” she stated. “He’s at risk of a heart attack, and because of his condition, he’s not getting any smaller. No matter what we do, he continues to put on weight. The doctors believe this could help him lead a longer, healthier life.”

According to Price, Harvey may need to take the injections for up to two years, with medical professionals carefully monitoring his progress and adjusting the dosage as necessary.

Why Traditional Weight Loss Methods Haven’t Worked

Over the years, Katie has explored multiple avenues to help Harvey manage his weight, including dietary changes and working with nutritionists. However, due to his Prader-Willi syndrome—a condition that causes constant hunger and difficulty regulating food intake—controlling his weight has been an uphill battle.

“We’ve tried everything,” she admitted. “He’s had dietitians, we’ve adjusted his food intake, but his condition makes it nearly impossible for him to lose weight naturally.”

The advantage of the weight loss injection, she explained, is that it can be stopped at any time if there are any adverse effects. The treatment is administered weekly, and doctors will gradually increase the dosage based on Harvey’s response.

Harvey’s Health Challenges and Past Struggles

Harvey’s medical conditions extend beyond Prader-Willi syndrome. He is also blind, autistic, and has septo-optic dysplasia, a rare disorder that affects the development of the optic nerves. Additionally, he has a learning disability, which adds another layer of complexity to his care needs.

Katie has been a vocal advocate for Harvey’s needs throughout his life, fighting for better support and raising awareness about his conditions.

In recent years, she faced difficulties securing funding for Harvey’s care, with local authorities ruling that he “only needs social care”, despite his multiple medical conditions. This decision came after Katie had to withdraw him from National Star College in Gloucester due to financial constraints. The college, which provided specialized education and care for Harvey, had an annual fee of £350,000—a cost she could no longer sustain amid her financial struggles.

Katie’s Experience Raising Harvey Alone

Katie has raised Harvey as a single mother, with little involvement from his biological father, former footballer Dwight Yorke. According to Price, Yorke has only seen Harvey around nine times since his birth.

When she first became pregnant, Yorke denied paternity until a DNA test confirmed he was Harvey’s father. Despite this, he has maintained minimal contact with his son.

“I’ve tried to send him pictures and videos of Harvey playing the piano, but he ignores everything,” Katie shared. “I don’t know if it’s because he couldn’t have me or because of Harvey, but he just doesn’t want to know. The door is always open, though.”

Looking Ahead: Hope for Harvey’s Future

Despite the challenges, Katie remains optimistic about Harvey’s future. She believes that the weight loss injections could significantly improve his health, reducing his risk of life-threatening complications.

With careful medical supervision and continued advocacy from his mother, Harvey is set to begin this new chapter in his health journey. While the road ahead may still have obstacles, Katie remains committed to ensuring her son gets the best possible care and support.
