Matt Doyle believes that the player on loan from River Plate has shown excellent form and helped Inter Miami fans somewhat ease their longing for Messi.
Sharing with Inter Miami News, he said: “I think they will play their best football of the season in the final stages,

because I believe David Martinez is the difference maker for them, as long as he doesn’t get any more silly red cards.”

The red card that Matt Doyle mentioned was in the match between Inter Miami and Toronto FC in the League Cup.

The Paraguayan defender received a direct red card after a rough foul on his opponent. The 26-year-old has been impressive in his first two games for the club, and will be expected to add some solidity to the Herons’ defence after serving his suspension.
Matt Doyle has also discussed the possibility of Inter Miami winning the Supporters’ Shield at the end of the season, saying the club are in a strong position to do so.
He added: “This is something we’ve seen in this league over the last seven or eight years. The teams that really want to win the Supporters’ Shield start to push in May, June, July and create a gap.

That’s when Miami were expected to lose the title. That was when Messi was out, the Copa America was on, Suarez wasn’t there, Mati Rojas wasn’t there, but they ended up winning nine games and losing just one without Messi. They’ve been fantastic.”
As for Messi, the 37-year-old superstar has missed a total of 11 matches for Inter Miami since successfully defending the Copa America 2024 title with Argentina. However, El Pulga suffered a serious eye injury in the final and is still recovering. Up to this point, the time Messi will return to play for The Herons has not been determined.
