Radcliffe candidly discussed the complexities they faced when hormones got the best of their logic. 

Daniel Radcliffe was Crystal Clear About Never Dating Emma Watson 

Ever since Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson shared the screen as two of the titular characters in the Harry Potter franchise, fans have expressed their desire for them to date in real life. Even today, despite the duo being focused on their respective lives and relationships, fans still hope against hope for them to become partners in real life. 

The excitement reached a fever peak after Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson shared a kiss on the set of Harry Potter, as a vision seen by Ron under the influence of Lord Voldemort’s Horcrux. But despite fervent fan shipping and occasional rumors, Radcliffe has unequivocally stated that he will never date Watson. 

During an interview with Esquire via The Independent, Daniel Radcliffe clarified that he never considered Emma Watson as a potential partner. Having grown up together on screen since childhood, Radcliffe clarified that their bond is more like siblings than couples. Reflecting on the commitment to maintain a respectful and supportive friendship with Watson, the actor stated, 

We know it’d be everything the fans ever wanted. I’m sorry guys, it’s not happening. It’s just not. There’s something really incestuous about the idea of it.

After addressing the public’s fascination with the idea of him dating Emma Watson and clarifying that it won’t ever happen, Daniel Radcliffe went on to share some challenges faced by him and his co-stars at maintaining professional relationships on set. 

Challenges Faced by Young Harry Potter Stars at Navigating Through Adolescence   

While Daniel Radcliffe informed fans that he won’t ever date Emma Watson, the actor also revealed a candid confession of when the cast did fancy each other. Despite growing up on the set of the billion-dollar franchise, the Harry Potter protagonist noted the struggles they faced during their budding youth.

Addressing how things went haywire as they were constantly under the influence of hormones during puberty, Daniel Radcliffe admitted it was incredibly difficult to restrict themselves. Spending a significant portion of their formative years on set, since the castmates were the only boys and girls they all knew, Radcliffe highlighted the inevitable issue of adolescence. 

There was a period when we were the only boys and girls any of us knew. And so, you know, we were all unbelievably horny from about the third film to probably about the end of the fifth; then it all settled down. But, God, for a few years… There was never anybody I fancied that much in the cast, though the conspiracy theorists always like to say that me and Emma are dating.

Despite these challenges, Daniel Radcliffe emphasized the deep bond he shares with his co-stars. Although, after the Harry Potter films, the young actors went on to pursue diverse careers beyond Hogwarts, their lasting friendships continued to resonate with fans worldwide.
