Piers Morgan has recently revealed that he is dealing with an alleged stalker and has criticized the legal system for failing to take appropriate action. 

The outspoken journalist and TV personality claims the justice system 

has allowed the alleged offender to repeatedly make baseless accusations and financial demands with no consequences.

Taking to Instagram, the Piers Morgan Uncensored host shared a newspaper front page about his situation, drawing parallels to the hit Netflix series Baby Reindeer, 

which is based on the real-life stalking experiences of writer and actor Richard Gadd.

The woman believed to have inspired the stalker character in Baby Reindeer has since come forward, 

denying the allegations and even appearing on Morgan’s show. Now, she is suing Netflix for defamation and negligence.

Acknowledging the irony of his own situation, Piers began his post with the words: “I know, I know… Karma’s a btch etc.”* before detailing his own ordeal.

Piers Morgan Criticizes Courts Over Handling of Stalker

Morgan has claimed that his alleged stalker has been making “absurd, complete fantasy stuff and just ramblings” about him. However, what concerns him most is what he describes as a “massive flaw” in the UK court system that allows her behavior to continue unchecked.

In his post, he alleged that the woman in question has a history of harassment and was jailed in 2007 for what the courts described as “vicious, vitriolic, and vindictive” behavior towards a survivor of the July 7 London bombings. Despite this, he says she has been able to continue harassing high-profile individuals, including himself and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, without being stopped.

Morgan went on to claim that the woman has filed 64 cases against celebrities in the past year alone, accusing them of fabricated offenses. He also suggested that she has been exploiting a legal system designed to assist those on low incomes. By using the “fee remission” system, which waives legal fees for people with limited financial resources, she is allegedly able to file multiple lawsuits at no personal cost while forcing her targets to spend thousands of pounds defending themselves.

Morgan Says Legal System Is Being Exploited

Piers revealed that he has already won two cases against the woman, and she was ordered to pay £6,000 in legal costs. However, he expressed doubt that she would actually pay up. He criticized the courts for failing to “do proper due diligence” to recognize the pattern of her actions and prevent her from abusing the system.

“So, I’ve gone public with it, and let’s see if that forces them to do something,” he stated.

Despite the harassment he has allegedly faced, Morgan insists that he is not “traumatized” by the ordeal and does not seek sympathy. Instead, his frustration lies with what he sees as a waste of court time and taxpayer money, arguing that cases like these should not be allowed to clog the legal system.

Speaking in a recent interview, Morgan further elaborated on how he believes the woman is manipulating the legal process. He explained that when a person is contacted by the court regarding a claim, they must respond and defend themselves; otherwise, a judgment could be made against them by default. He believes this is exactly what the woman is trying to achieve—filing numerous claims in the hope that some may slip through uncontested.

“I didn’t want to have to defend it, but you have to after being contacted by the court,” he said. “Otherwise, it goes through the court process and you can get a judgment against you or your company—which is what she was trying to do.”

Morgan also claimed that she has used the same tactic against numerous other individuals, costing them significant sums in legal fees.

“It means the cost to her issuing the claims is effectively nothing,” he continued. “The same can’t be said for all the defendants who have to go through the court process and then end up paying the costs. She’s abusing the court process quite skillfully, exposing a kind of weakness in the system.”

Call for Legal Reform

Morgan’s comments have sparked discussions about whether legal reforms are needed to prevent individuals from exploiting the system in this way. Some legal experts and commentators have suggested that courts should implement stricter checks to prevent serial litigants from continuously filing baseless claims without evidence.

While the UK does have measures in place to deal with vexatious litigants—people who repeatedly misuse the courts—critics argue that the current system does not act quickly enough to prevent individuals from causing financial and emotional distress to their targets.

As Morgan continues to push for action, it remains to be seen whether the legal system will take steps to address his concerns. For now, the broadcaster is making sure the issue doesn’t go unnoticed, using his platform to highlight what he sees as a serious flaw in the justice system.
