Draven Bennington—the son of Chester Bennington—revealed that his decision to transition was directly inspired by his father: “It was his wish before he passed away.”

Draven Bennington, daughter of the late Chester Bennington,

recently made a powerful statement following her announcement that she is transgender.

At 22 years old, Draven shared her journey with her followers,

expressing deep gratitude for the support she has received since coming out, while also confronting her critics head-on.

In a candid message posted online, Draven thanked those who have shown her love and acceptance during this transformative moment in her life.

However, she didn’t hold back in addressing the “bigots” who have criticized her. She sent a biting message to those who harbor hatred, saying, “I hope you learn the valuable lesson of love.

Until then, I wish every time you turn off the lights and walk to bed that you step on a Lego.” Her words reflected the frustration she feels toward individuals who oppose her journey. But rather than letting the negativity weigh her down, Draven embraced the fact that her existence and authenticity provoke strong reactions from those who refuse to accept her. “If me living my best life makes you mad, I hope it gets under your skin… actually I LOVE that it gets under your skin!” she continued, encouraging those around her to stand proud and continue their personal growth despite criticism.

Draven also clarified some important aspects of her identity in the post. She confirmed that she plans to keep the name “Draven,” which she finds both “androgynous” and fitting for her. Additionally, she requested that others use the pronouns she/her, explaining that she no longer wishes to be referred to by the he/him pronouns she had previously been assigned. While Draven is still exploring her sexuality, she identified as falling somewhere on the bi/pansexual spectrum, acknowledging that she hasn’t fully figured out where she lands.

The heartfelt message came just days after Draven publicly came out as transgender and shared that she began her gender transition in August of the previous year. Her decision to begin hormone replacement therapy has been one of the most significant steps in her journey, and she described it as the best choice she’s ever made. “For a long time, I tried to be someone I truly wasn’t on the inside. Ignoring it worked for a while, but continuously coming to the crossroads of being happy or being complacent was one I couldn’t keep crossing,” she wrote. She further expressed her gratitude for the supportive friends and family who have backed her during this time, acknowledging that her journey wouldn’t have been possible without their unwavering support.

Draven’s announcement came on Valentine’s Day, a day she called “a day to celebrate love,” and she dedicated her message to self-love and acceptance. Reflecting on her journey, she wrote, “With all the support and love I’ve received, I’ve built the strength to love myself. This is why I’m choosing to no longer hide who I am. Love is love.” She also made a special tribute to her mother, Samantha Olit, who was married to Chester Bennington and has been a strong source of support throughout Draven’s transition. “I’m so blessed to be your child! I love you to the moon and back!” Draven wrote, showing deep affection and appreciation for her mother’s unconditional love.

Samantha responded to Draven’s post with an outpouring of pride and affection, writing, “I’m so proud of you. I love you with all my heart and soul. You’re my favorite human on the planet. I just want you happy and healthy forever and always.” The heartfelt exchange between mother and daughter highlighted the strength of their bond and the importance of love and acceptance within their family.

Draven’s announcement and her message to the public reflect a deep sense of personal growth and confidence. As she continues to navigate her transition, Draven remains an outspoken advocate for love, acceptance, and the freedom to be true to oneself. The overwhelming support from her family, fans, and friends is a testament to the power of unconditional love in helping individuals live authentically. Through her journey, Draven hopes to inspire others to embrace their true selves, regardless of the obstacles or prejudice they may face.
