The Duke of Sussex ignites a feud with the U.S. President after making an extremely defiant statement following his permission to remain in the country.

Prince Harry delivered a powerful speech at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games in Vancouver, Canada,

where he addressed issues of division and moral weakness in the world. His remarks came just hours after former U.S.

President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Meghan Markle, calling her “terrible” and suggesting that the Duke of Sussex had “enough problems” with his wife.

Harry’s Strong Message on Morality and Resilience

Standing before a crowd of 40,000 at BC Place stadium on Saturday, Prince Harry, 40, spoke about the challenges faced by the world today.

“At this moment, when there is no shortage of crises, no absence of uncertainty, no lack of weak moral character in the world,

the values you embody, the way you carry yourselves—not only at the Invictus Games but each and every day—your courage, your resilience, your humanity illuminate a path forward for us all,” he declared.

His speech, which emphasized perseverance and strength, was part of the grand opening of the sports competition he founded in 2014 to support wounded military personnel and veterans. The event, which is being hosted in Canada for the first time, serves as an opportunity for competitors to showcase their determination in the face of adversity.

Trump’s Comments on Meghan and Prince Harry’s Response

Prince Harry’s speech came on the same day that Donald Trump made headlines for his controversial remarks about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The former president dismissed any speculation that Harry could be deported from the U.S. over past admissions of drug use, instead taking aim at Meghan Markle, 43.

“I wouldn’t deport him. I think he’s got enough problems with his wife. I think she’s terrible,” Trump said in an interview, reigniting tensions between the Sussexes and the political figure.

Despite the remarks, the couple appeared composed and united at the ceremony. The Duchess of Sussex accompanied her husband, wearing an elegant white Sentaler coat, and was seen resting her head on his shoulder as emotional stories of Invictus competitors played on the stadium’s large screens.

Honoring Canada’s Indigenous People

During his speech, Prince Harry also took time to acknowledge the indigenous communities of Canada, recognizing the Lílwat, Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations as the traditional hosts of the games.

He even greeted the audience in a traditional First Nations language, saying “Hite-sap – coo-cwee-lum,” a welcoming phrase used in large gatherings. His tribute underscored the significance of inclusivity and respect for indigenous cultures in the country hosting this year’s games.

A Moment of Celebration Amid Personal and Professional Struggles

The Invictus Games arrive at a pivotal time for the Sussexes, offering them a temporary escape from mounting scrutiny over their professional ventures and personal challenges.

Prince Harry’s legal battle against the British press took a turn last month when he agreed to settle his lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers for a substantial sum. While he had previously vowed to “change the media landscape” as a self-proclaimed “dragon slayer,” some viewed the settlement as a retreat from his long-standing campaign.

Additionally, his plans for a podcast, which allegedly aimed to interview world leaders like Vladimir Putin and Mark Zuckerberg about their psychological profiles, were met with skepticism, with some dubbing it a “sociopath podcast.” His Netflix documentary about polo also failed to generate the level of attention he might have hoped for, leaving questions about his next career move.

Meghan, meanwhile, has faced her own professional setbacks. Her highly anticipated Netflix project has been postponed due to the wildfires in Los Angeles, and a recent Vanity Fair article painted an unflattering picture of her leadership style, depicting her as a demanding and ambitious boss.

Despite these challenges, the Invictus Games have provided a much-needed moment of admiration and support for the couple.

The Sussexes’ Warm Reception at the Games

Both Prince Harry and Meghan spent their first day at the competition mingling with athletes from Team USA and Team Canada. The Duchess was seen sharing laughs with female U.S. competitors, while Prince Harry danced in front of Canadian athletes, embracing the camaraderie of the event.

When the couple appeared on the stadium’s jumbotron during the opening ceremony, the audience responded with thunderous applause—one of the loudest reactions of the night, rivaled only by the reception for Team Ukraine.

Music played a key role in the event, with Coldplay’s Chris Martin and pop icon Katy Perry performing. Martin, who created the official Invictus Games anthem in 2014, took a moment to praise Prince Harry, saying, “Thank you, Harry, for being such an inspiring leader and kind and sweet man.”

Closing the Night with Ice Hockey

Following the ceremony, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continued their evening by attending a hockey game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs at Rogers Arena. The relaxed outing further demonstrated their commitment to supporting sporting events and engaging with the public.

A Respite Before Returning to Reality

While the Invictus Games offer a reprieve from their recent struggles, the Sussexes still face questions about their professional futures and ongoing tensions with the Royal Family. Their fractured relationship with the monarchy remains unresolved, and speculation continues about what their next career moves will be after a series of setbacks.

For now, however, the games serve as a reminder of Prince Harry’s enduring commitment to supporting veterans and creating a space for resilience and hope. As the competition continues through February 16, the couple will likely relish the positive reception they have received—at least for now, in the supportive environment of Invictus.
