However, that’s not to say it’s been without bumps in the road – as many people will remember from the affair allegations that hit headlines in the 2000s.
Rebecca Loos had claimed in 2004 that she’d been having a relationship with David – who was playing for Real Madrid at the time – when she was working as his personal assistant.
While the couple denied the allegations, the media storm that followed was inescapable.
That tumultuous period was later discussed by the pair in Netflix documentary Beckham, which dropped last year and followed the ups and downs of 49-year-old David’s life, both on and off the pitch.
Victoria, 50, appeared to allude to her husband’s alleged ‘affair’, saying candidly: “It was the hardest period because it felt like the world was against us,” she said. “Here’s the thing – we were against each other if I’m being completely honest.
“You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else but we were together, we were connected, we had each other.
“But when we were in Spain, it didn’t really feel like we had each other either.
“And that’s sad. I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me. It was a nightmare.
“It was an absolute circus – and everyone loves it when the circus comes to town right? Unless you’re in it.”
When asked if she ‘resented’ David, Victoria went on: “If I’m being totally honest, yes I did. It was the most unhappy I have ever been in my entire life.”
The fashion designer went on to say that she ‘internalised’ a lot of trauma as a means of supporting her husband’s career.
“It wasn’t that I felt unheard because I was always mindful of the focus that he needed,” she added.
At another point in the docu-series, David also spoke about the speculation around his supposed affair, explaining how it affected both him and his family.
“There was some horrible stories which were difficult to deal with,” he recalled.
“It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage. Every time that we woke up we felt, you know, there was something else and you know we felt that, we both felt at the time that we were not losing each other but drowning.”
When asked how he and Victoria ‘survived’, David became teary-eyed, continuing: “I don’t know, I don’t know. I don’t know how we got through it in all honesty.”
David said that his wife is ‘everything’ to him, adding : “To see her hurt was incredibly difficult, but we’re fighters. We needed to fight for each other and for our family. What we had was worth fighting for.
“But ultimately it’s our private life. There were some days I thought, ‘How am I going to go to work? How am I going to go on that training pitch and look as if nothing is wrong?’ I felt physically sick every day when I opened my eyes. How am I going to do this?”
