“After every interview, I find I need time alone to decompress. Reflecting on the ups and downs of my life and career can sometimes be mentally and emotionally draining,” Beckham said.
David Beckham revealed that it was only when he started filming the documentary series that he realized how much he was trying to suppress inside to appear stronger to the public and to himself.

“I realised I had been pushing a lot of my emotions aside for years. I was always taught to bottle things up and put on a brave face.

This was the first time I had actually faced some of the big moments in my life, and it was really therapeutic,” he wrote.

Discussing the intense media scrutiny he and wife Victoria Beckham faced after the 1998 World Cup, Beckham said: “One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is how important it is to look after your mental health. I hope anyone who’s struggling with this knows they don’t have to go through it alone,” he added.
The former footballer also admitted that while making the Beckham film didn’t magically make all his emotions go away, it certainly gave him the “healing” he needed.
“I don’t think making this documentary has brought me closure because I still feel pain from those moments. But it has helped me forgive myself and let go of some of the guilt,” David Beckham wrote.
