Tiger Woods shows frustration when Charlie surpasses him too quickly, even though he was the one who forced the boy to train until he passed out (video)

Tiger Woods seems to have a great relationship with his son Charlie. That doesn’t mean they always see eye-to-eye though.

With the U.S. Open set for this Thursday at Pinehurst, the 15-time major champion opened up about his bond with his son.

Woods admit that he gets frustrated by the fact that Charlie is usually glued to his phone. He’d rather his son look around and enjoy what the world has to offer.

“I just don’t like the fact that he stares at his phone all the time. Put your phone away and just look around,” Woods said, via GolfDigest.

“That’s one of the things I think all parents struggle with is most kids don’t look up anymore. Everyone is looking down.

“Look around you, the world is so beautiful around you, just look up. But everyone is staring into a screen, and that’s how people view life.

It drives me nuts at times because he’s always looking down and there’s so many things around you that are so beautiful at the same time.”

Charlie can’t afford to be on his phone this week. That’s because he received a player support badge for the U.S. Open. He’ll be inside the ropes giving his father pointers when possible.

“As far as his responsibilities, it’s the same. I trust him with my swing and my game. He’s seen it more than anybody else in the world. He’s seen me hit more golf balls than anyone,” Tiger said, via Golfweek. “I tell him what to look for, especially with putting. He gave me a couple little side bits today, which was great, because I get so entrenched in hitting certain putts to certain pins, I tend to forget some of the things I’m working on.”
