Former England footballer David Beckham has marked his big 4-0 by joining Instagram.
The star posted a picture of himself lying in bed, with the caption: “Good morning and hello!
It’s great to finally be on Instagram, been a long time coming but I can’t wait to start sharing all my special moments with you.
“Thank you for all your birthday messages so far. Looking forward to a great day with friends and family x.”
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player had more than 700,000 followers only hours after joining the social media site.
Beckham celebrated his big day with a star-studded party in Marrakech, Morocco.
His wife Victoria used Twitter to hint at her husband’s birthday plans, posting a picture of a dress and even giving the event its own hashtag — DB40.
She later posted a picture of the couple standing by an aeroplane, and then another confirming they had arrived in Morocco.
“So excited to be spending this special day with David and the kids in Marrakech! Welcome to Instagram DavidBeckham! x vb DB40,” Victoria captioned a snap of her and Beckham.
Among the friends believed to be joining Beckham for the big day were football agent Dave Gardner and his girlfriend, Liv Tyler, chef Gordon Ramsay and former Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Mel C. The couple’s four children Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, Cruz, 10 and Harper, three, were also in Morocco, with Brooklyn sharing a snap of himself cuddled up to actress Eva Longoria on the night.
