Is there such a thing as being too affectionate with your kids? David Beckham doesn’t seem to think so. 

He’s facing criticism again for this on-camera cuddle with daughter Harper. The father-daughter duo was recently photographed hugging at a soccer game. 

For many, it seems like a sweet moment between a dad and his little girl. But as Harper quickly approaches her teen years, others believe it’s too much. 

This isn’t the first time the father of four has been criticised for his affection for his daughter. 

Last year, he posted an Instagram video of the pair getting prepped for Victoria Beckham’s  fashion week show. They have a quick peck on the lips at the end. People went wild! 

Whenever they have a family-PDA moment, people have big feelings about it. 

Earlier this month, David brought Harper along to spend the day with him in Fort Lauderdale to see Inter Miami, the MLS team he co-owns, play against St. Louis. Cameras caught David and Harper having a sweet moment with each other. Harper stood in front of her dad, David’s arms wrapped around her waist.

They smiled and talked, even stopping to pose for a photo for a second. It looked like they were having a great time together.

Harper is a longtime football fan and often accompanies David to Inter Miami matches while also being a huge supporter of the Lionesses.

“Cringeworthy” 

When The Daily Mail reported on Harper and David’s sweet interaction, many took issue with it, citing 12-year-old Harper’s age and that David needs to step back with his affection.

“I find that picture a bit cringeworthy,” one person wrote. Yes, put an arm on her shoulder, but that picture is definitely OTT for me.”

“She’s 13 this year. It’s time to let her be a bit older and stop clinging to her in public. Save the hugs for home,” someone else threw in.

“As sweet and innocent as it may be, it’s no longer appropriate anymore. Harper looks like a young woman now,” another person chimed in.

Someone else added, “She’s getting a little too old for this now. Maybe an arm around her shoulder is more appropriate.”

“Great Dad, awesome shot”

The former footballer later took to his Instagram to share a selfie with his daughter posing in front of the pitch.

Captioning the adorable shot, he admitted that while his team had been hoping for a better result, he was happy to have Harper with him. 

David wrote: “Didn’t get the 3 points we wanted, but I have this little one by my side #HarperSeven.”
