A Nigerian restaurant in Tottenham has been able to keep its doors open and serve its community, thanks to a generous grant from Beyoncé’s foundation.
The restaurant, called **Enish**, specializes in authentic Nigerian cuisine, such as jollof rice, egusi soup, and pounded yam, and has been a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
However, like many other businesses, Enish was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced it to close its dine-in service and rely on takeaways and deliveries.
The restaurant’s owner, **Feyi Eniola**, said that he was struggling to pay the rent, the staff, and the suppliers, and was on the verge of shutting down permanently.
That’s when he received a lifeline from Beyoncé’s foundation, **BeyGOOD**, which partnered with the **NAACP** to provide grants to Black-owned small businesses affected by the pandemic.
Eniola applied for the grant online, and was overjoyed when he found out that he was one of the recipients. He said that the grant, which was worth **$10,000**, helped him cover some of the expenses and keep the restaurant afloat.
Eniola said that he was grateful to Beyoncé and her foundation for their support, and that he was a huge fan of her music and her activism.
He said that he admired her for using her voice and her platform to empower Black people and celebrate their culture. He also said that he hoped to meet her someday and thank her personally, and maybe even cook for her.
Enish is not only a restaurant, but also a hub for the Nigerian community in Tottenham, and a place where people can enjoy the rich and diverse flavors of Africa.
Eniola said that he was proud to share his heritage and his passion with his customers, and that he was determined to overcome the challenges and continue serving his delicious food.
