Happy birthday, Cardi B! The world renowned rapper turns 27 on Thursday, October 11 and we’re celebrating by taking a look back at her fearless style. 

The Bronx-born rapper escaped poverty to be named one of Time’s most influential people in the world in 2018, and is worth more than $8 million. 

While we never know what she’ll be wearing or what she will say, one thing is certain, the former stripper is not so ‘regular shmegular’ anymore!     

Before her music and acting career, the Hustlers actress made her living as an exotic dancer and a Vine and Instagram celebrity. 

Delivering raunchy and hilarious one-liners, it was only a matter of time before she was able to leverage her social media fame and get casted on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York.

After amassing a large fan base, she embarked on her musical career.

She made history becoming the first female to win best rap album with her first full-length album Invasion of Privacy. 

The album was officially certified triple platinum by the RIAA.     

Couture for Cardi  

You know you’ve made it when you’re attending a Chanel fashion show in Paris, France sitting front row next to Anna Wintour. 

For her first-ever Chanel runway show this week, Cardi in fact stole the show in a full look by the luxury label worth $34,000. 

The head-to-toe ensemble was originally modeled by Cara Delevingne on the runway of the fall 2020 presentation. 

It included a black and white tweed pantsuit, a matching fedora hat, a houndstooth coat and several belts. Shmoney!

While in the City of Light, she also cut a sexy figure in a Nicolas Jebran purple wrap dress that highlighted her frame and showed some serious cleavage. 

She paired the leather mini with matching thigh-high boots by Andrea Wazen x Nicolas Jebran. 

While the provocative look matches her persona, the Bodak Yellow singer is a chameleon that cannot be put into a style box. 

Which she proved in a quirky printed custom bodysuit by Aliette, and patterned jacket by Norwegian womenswear brand Edda Gimnes.

She termed her grey jacket and pencil skirt for the Thom Browne show, ‘The teacher’.

Shock factor 

Her Paris trip began with a bang that left everyone speechless.

The Grammy Award winner donned a blue and green Richard Quinn floral print ensemble (an ode to Queen Elizabeth) complete with matching boots and a scarf the covered her face.

The star posed in front of the Eiffel Tower telling paparazzi that she was there to ‘Serve it to you cold.’ 

While the look got mixed reactions, Cardi B will wear whatever she wants, okurrrr?

Who can forget the 61st Annual Grammy Awards when Cardi showed everyone that the world is her oyster.

She was nominated for Album of the Year for her debut album Invasion of Privacy, as well as Record and Song of the Year for her hit ‘I Like It.’

For the momentous occasion, Cardi donned a vintage Mugler design pulled straight from the archives of the label’s Fall 1995 Couture collection.

The one-of-a-kind gown featured a sequin nude bodysuit, pale pink gloves, and a black skirt with a  ruffled clam-shell design around her waist.

She finished the look with a large pearl necklace, a pearl belt and a twisted pearl beehive atop of her head. 

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?

Cardi bared it all ⁠— literally and figuratively — on the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Arena.

With 21 nominations, she came to concur. Cardi wore a yellow ab-exposing top and matching skirt featuring a thigh-high slit.

She gave photographers and fans more than they bargained for when Offset propped her leg up and leaned in for a passionate kiss. 

After the photos went viral, she took to Instagram to clear up any misconceptions on what was being exposed and with a nude anatomy lesson.  

All about the drama

Sure she loves her fast fashions from Fashion Nova, but Cardi is a force to be reckon with on the red carpet in high-end designer.

At the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination Costume Institute Gala in New York in 2018 she wore a beaded gown by designer Jeremy Scott, the creative director of the Moschino fashion house. 

She was pregnant at the time, but that didn’t stop her from bringing her A-game!

She shut down the carpet at the ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ in 2019 wearing a show-stopping oxblood custom gown by Thom Browne.

The look took more than 2,000 hours to create, it featured a train that spanned ten feet and was decorated with 30,000 burnt and dyed coque feathers.

The train was so big, Cardi was accompanied by a team of five men up the MET stairs. The woman knows how to make an entrance! 

At the 2018 American Music Awards Cardi wore a floor-length Dolce and Gabbana dress featuring a thigh-high slit.

She accessorized the statement look with a headpiece in a matching floral pattern.

A big fan of the Italian design house she also wore the luxury label at fashion week’s biggest, most glamorous and celebrity-filled event, the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party.  

While the rapper caused a commotion after allegedly throwing her shoe at Nicki Minaj, her red ruffled gown accessorized by multiple necklaces also made headlines.  

From ostrich feathers to large brimmed hats, nothing is too over-the-top for Cardi!
