And according to Angelina, son Pax even made the cake because there wasn’t one.
Speaking to the American Vanity Fair, the Oscar winning star, 39, said: “They (the kids) did not expect us never to fight, but they always made us promise to say sorry if we do.
“So they said ‘do you?’ and we said: ‘We do!’
Little planning appeared to have gone into the big day at the civil ceremony which was held at the chapel in their estate, Chateau Miravel. There were around just 20 guests to watch the long-awaited nuptials to take place.
So despite them being one of the most famous couples in the world, the wedding was very low key.
In fact, touchingly, the kids got involved.
Angelina said: “There was no cake so Pax made a cake. The kids made little pillows for the rings and Knox practiced (being the ring bearer) with an acorn that kept falling off the pillow.
“Brad’s mom went and picked some flowers and tied them up.”
After the official bit, the couple, who met while filming movie Mr and Mrs Smith back in 2003, held a big lunch in the house’s Great Hall, with rose wine from their own vineyard.
Angelina spoke to Vanity Fair, which is out on November 6, to promote her new movie, Unbroken.
And despite it being gritty, she wants children to watch it – especially her own brood of six.
“I want young kids to see this film, I want something to take to my children – a life message.”
